Fitzroy is a village protective of its past and delighting in its present. Retro, the understated, cool and unashamedly groovy, is alive and well and living in Fitzroy.

Collingwood is a former industrial area and working-class suburb known for its battlers that is fast getting a make-over as an alternative and gay-friendly area just 3km northeast of the city.

New York has Little Italy, Melbourne has Carlton. The old traditions are alive with each new generation blending its own style into the Bianco, Rosso and Verde of this Australian-Italian community.
