Weather for Essendon

Essendon is perhaps one of the best known Melbourne suburbs thanks to its famous Essendon Football Club, which is one of the most successful teams in Australia.

Situated only 10km north-west of the City CBD, and originally inhabited by the Wurundjeri tribe of the Kulin Aboriginal nation, Essendon was settled by European explorers in 1803.

At the 2006 Census, Essendon had a population of 18,213, and its Local Government Area is the City of Moonee Valley.

Essendon was the birthplace of conservationist and television personality Steve Irwin, best known as "The Crocodile Hunter".
