Weather for The Wimmera

From the strikingly diverse Little Desert National Park to the coursing Glenelg River, winding its way to the Southern Ocean, the Wimmera is a flourishing region full of contrast and beauty that covers a great expanse of land.

Notable centres such as Warracknabeal, Dimboola, Nhill and Kaniva to the north and west, together with Edenhope in the south and Murtoa to the east, share in a rich agricultural heritage.

The vast open plains in the northern districts of the Wimmera provide bumper harvests of wheat and barley and during spring an almost endless sea of yellow envelops the landscape, as the canola crop flowers.

From friendly townships, through open plains and onto the Little Desert National Park, the Wimmera has scenic drives and plenty to explore. The surprisingly rich environment of the Little Desert, with its low woodlands of Desert Banksia, its colourful wildflowers and the elusive Mallee Fowl, offers a plethora of self-guided walks and 4WD drive routes.
