Ravensthorpe town is encircled by the ancient Ravensthorpe Range amid stately Salmon Gum trees, with endless unspoiled bush and a diversity of plants. Approximately two thirds of the district, renowned for its natural beauty of ancient ranges, rocky hills, rugged river valleys, estuaries and large inlets provides the area with a wealth of natural beauty.
The Shire of Ravensthorpe has a population of 1436 (ABS 2003), with Ravensthorpe town population of approximately 450.
Natural bushland, made up of two National Parks, Reserves and Vacant Crown Land, are all rich in geology, native flora and fauna including many rare species. Ravensthorpe is now a small sheep and wheat town which started life as a gold and copper mining town.
