Cape Range National Park and Ningaloo Reef Marine Park, which runs parallel, are accessed via Exmouth to the north and Coral Bay at the south. Both towns offer a good selection of facilities for holidaymakers, with a range of accommodation, dive shops, restaurants and supermarkets.
Local dive shops and tour operators offer tours out to the Reef to watch and swim with whale sharks in their May – July season. Throughout the year dive & snorkel spots are accessible via short boat trips – or for the experienced, a slighter longer trip out to the Murion Islands offers very dramatic coral gardens with often excellent visibility.
Ningaloo Reef is often referred to as the Great Barrier Reef of West, the pristine and uninterrupted reef runs parallel with the coast, in places within metres of the shore. Campers in Cape Range National Park can stay at the water's edge in designated sites including Neds Camp, Sandy Bay & Osprey Bay. Beaches such as Turquoise Bay, where the reef can be accessed directly from the beach, can be visited for day trips.
The Cape Range itself is popular with fourwheel drivers, with challenging drives and outstanding coastal vistas.Photos
