Farmstay Country is an area of beautiful outback Western Australia that remains largely untouched by commercial tourism. Situated to the East of the Darling Range and inland from the Western Australian capital of Perth, this region get its name from its popularity as a farmstay holiday location. The abundance of home-style accommodation is proof that genuine country hospitality still exists.
Attractions in the area include the beautiful Dryandra State Forest which is home to many species of native plants and animals, including the Numbat, which is featured on Western Australia's emblem. You can take a night tour through the forest animal-spotting, walk an Aboriginal heritage trail route, or picnic at one of the forests' many beautiful lookouts.
Another popular tourist attraction in the area is Wagin's Giant Ram and the Wagin Historical Village. Wagin is the centre of Western Australia's thriving merino wool and stud industry, and the town shows its pride of its farming heritage at Wagin's Woolorama.
Further east outside the small town of Hyden is Wave Rock, a rock formation that has become a Western Australian icon that is believed to be at least 2700 million years old.
In Spring wildflowers can be seen in full bloom across the rugged landscape, and in the beautiful Perth Hills.
