Situated 112 kilometres or an hour and a half's drive south of Perth, the town of Waroona is at the centre of a forestry, dairying and potato farming region.

Situated 112km south of Perth, Waroona Shire stretches from the Indian Ocean on the west across flat lands enriched with irrigation waters, up and over the Darling Ranges with its massive granite outcrops and magnificant views, then through the forest, with magnificent guarded old Jarrah trees that lead right down to the Murray River.

The still pools and contrasting rapids of the Murray River offer canoeists a challenging battle with nature.

Small, but packed with a combination of varying sights, soils, crops and vegetation, Waroona boasts a range of diverse industries including beef, sheep and dairy farming, tree farming, earthmoving, market growers, engineering, and mining.

Waroona Dam, also known as Lake Navarino, covers some 200 hectares of water. It is used extensively for recreation. Power boating is permitted and the area is very popular for water ski activities. Fishing is also a major attraction, with marron, trout and perch abounding.
