Judged WA’s Top Tourist Town in 1999, the pretty seaside village of Dunsborough overlooks the crystal waters of Geographe Bay and is one of the most popular holiday spots in WA.
Sheltered by the waters of Geographe Bay, the town is an ideal family retreat thanks to its quiet coves, sandy beaches, surrounding national park areas, nature reserves and scenic trails.
3hrs south of Perth, Dunsborough is also a top spot for diving with the largest accessible dive wreck in the Southern Hemisphere, The HMAS Swan.
Up until the 1950’s Dunsborough was no more than a few beach shacks, today it has a vibrant arts scene, with live music and market days in summer and a plethora of well-respected art galleries.
What’s more, there are an impressive 220 vineyards and 80 wineries in the surrounding Margaret River wine region, quite a feat considering wine was first produced in the area just 30 years ago.
Other activities include photography, wine, canoeing, camel and cave tours; plus you can drive to Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse to soak up some history at the museum and watch passing whales.
