It's Milan, darling. Home to a population of roughly 1.3 million, Milan is the capital of the Lombardy region and the second largest city in Italy. With a history spanning more than 2000 years, the city's architecture is a beautiful medley of Spanish, French and Roman influences.
Milan is considered to be one of the world's fashion capitals, along with New York City, Paris, and London. Numerous major Italian fashion brands, such as Valentino, Gucci, Versace, Prada, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana, all have their headquarters in the city. If you want to see the latest trends where they begin, take a stroll down Via Monte Napoleone.
Greatly destroyed by World War II air raids, the city has rebuilt itself as a cosmopolitan business capital. The Piazza del Duomo includes some of Milan's most important buildings and attractions, such as the Milan Cathedral, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and the Royal Palace of Milan.
Another important Milano site is the Santa Maria delle Grazie, a church and convent, which is perhaps most famous for a little mural you may have heard of - the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. The convent is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
