Morocco, located in northern Africa, is a destination that stimulates the senses. With a blend of Islam and African, there are vibrant colours everywhere, the food is some of the best in the world and the architecture quite amazing.
Casablanca is Morocco’s cultural and economic centre and probably more open to western ways than anywhere else in Morocco. It is a city of contrasts with poverty stricken shanty’s beside amazing colonial architecture, traffic chaos and jams alongside wide boulevards, and drab suburbia standing in stark contrast to art deco architecture and the towering and intricate Hassan II Mosque.
There are beautiful white washed seaside towns such as Asalih and Essaouira, and grand imperial cities such as Fez and Marrakesh that offer a maze of winding streets and endless surprises. Outside of the urban cities are Roman ruins and camel rides through the Sahara desert.
The High Atlas mountains are great for hiking, offering some spectacular sights and there are also beautiful coastal spots to relax by the sea. What will strike you the most are the textile colours, the people and the spices and food, they all create sensory overload and make Morocco a unique and beautiful destination.
