One of the highest ski areas in the southern hemisphere and the ski field with the longest season in New Zealand. These two vital facts entice snow lovers to Mt Hutt ski fields each year. Five months of lush snow (light dry powder) to carve up on the mountain; Mt Hutt is open for business from late May to late October.

A favourite ski destination for locals, Mt Hutt is close to the small town of Methven and is about 120km from Christchurch on the South Island. On the eastern side of the Southern Alps, Mt Hutt overlooks the patchwork that is the Canterbury Plains.

Mt Hutt caters for beginners to advanced skiiers and snowboarders. Adrenalin junkies will love the Black Diamond runs and the families or novice skiiers will be pleased with the roomy wide slopes. Ski shuttles depart daily from Methven and transport from Christchurch is available.
