Rangiora

If you are looking for a day trip from Christchurch, Rangiora, just 25km to the north, is the pick. The beaches of Pegasus Bay are a few kilometres away and the nearby rivers are popular for picnics, swimming and walking.

Excellent native bushwalks are within easy reach of the town. Wineries are located around Rangiora, and the Waipara Valley wine country is just 20 minutes north of the town.

Rangiora is a fascinating place to explore New Zealand history. The town boasts some marvellous heritage structures including one of Canterbury's oldest, largest and most attractive wooden churches - St. Johns. There are a number of wineries and farm produce outlets, and several beautiful parks and waterways to enjoy.
