With a lot to offer curious travellers, from iconic Kruger National Park to the Drakensberg mountain range, South Africa is an intriguingly complex country. Home to nearly 50 million, it has a strong cultural identity, constantly improving infrastructure and breathtaking natural scenery.

The capital city of Johannesburg, the beating heart of South Africa, has had a turbulent past. Stark inequalities still exist, but the city is undergoing a constant regeneration. Not really a tourist destination in itself, Johannesburg is a major transport hub with the busiest airport in Africa.

Cape Town, the oldest and second largest city in South Africa, is a captivating destination in the far south. Located on the shore of Table Bay, it was initially developed by the Dutch East India Company as a supply station for their ships. Today the city is the nation’s most popular tourist destination, with beautiful beaches, fine vineyards and rugged wilderness at nearby Table Mountain.

There are several excellent hiking trails, wildlife safaris and surfing spots, plus opportunities to experience the culture of its people. No matter what your interests, South Africa offers everything from ostrich riding and game reserves to the world's highest bungee jump.
