There is so much to see and do in Bangkok. The capital of Thailand and home to 11 million, the city is a shimmering jewel sitting between the tempered hills of the north and the exquisite South Islands, and it’s a whole lot noisier as well.
When in Bangkok you must hit the streets and shop. Head into the crowded, bustling open-air markets and side streets and remember that shopping in Thailand is all about bargaining! It is not only acceptable but almost required when buying from the Thai's, so get your game face on and have some fun.
The city is undeniably one of the most exciting in the world and most of the fun is 'getting to know' Bangkok whether you prefer the luxuries of the Shangri La Hotel or whether your time is spent between hostels, antiques shopping, and bars. And all the while you are surrounded by the wonderful Thai people with their respectful natures and infectious smiles.
If you don't mind the expense, take the sky rail to the Gaysorn, the Siam Paragon or the Emporium Shopping Centre and wander through the monolithic buildings, window shop the designer boutiques and experience its ultra modern design.
Alternatively, just let the city take you; forget the big tourist attractions and just experience the madness that is Bangkok. Don't miss the amazing sights you see when you wander around without a plan; city streets with traffic tightly weaving around temples and skyscrapers, a monk leaning against a doorway with a cigarette in hand and those noisy old buses filled with tourists and school children heading out of the city and into the hills.
