The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, often known as the UK for short, is a constitutional monarchy consisting of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Known for its greatest achievements, fish n chips, television and Elton John; the UK is a nation of celebrities, eccentrics, footy fans, punk rockers, corporate high flyers and part-time Morris Dancers.
Aside from that, Britain is a leading global trading power and financial centre. With a population of around 60 million, it's a diverse nation with a strong culture of social integration and tolerance.
Steeped in history, the images that immediately spring to mind when thinking of the UK are Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, red postboxes and the humble pint. Yes, all of those things are correct but look outside of London (there is much more out there) and you'll find incredible scenery, picturesque coastlines, quaint villages and some of the nicest people you're ever likely to meet.Photos
