Cley-next-the-Sea, despite its name is not ‘next the sea’. Land reclamation in the 17th century pushed this once busy port inland. The Cley marshes attract huge variety of wildlife and in particularly wading birds.
Cley-next-the-Sea is set in attractive countryside and has a few pretty flint cottages and beautiful Georgian mansions. The Church of St Margaret is an interesting curiosity that is worth a visit. On the main street running through the village is the popular Cley Smoke House which sells smoked fish and other Norfolk delights.
If you fancy a spot of seal watching, Blakeney Point is a nature reserve with them in abundance. The Cley Marshes are another fantastic spot for wildlife enthusiasts to get their fix of local animal life.
