St James' comprises of about a square mile of some of London's most expensive real estate and with it you will find some of the capital's most exclusive establishments - gentleman's clubs, tailors and boutiques, hotels and restaurants, all catering for the select few.
It is hardly surprising - St James Park overlooks Buckingham Palace and this was one of the first planned "suburbs" as such back in the 17th century. Perhaps it is the proximity to blue blood, but St James' has an air of old world nobility about it in a way that equally expensive residents in nearby Knightsbridge or Kensington just can't quite match.
St James' Park was actually the first of the royal parks, enclosed by Henry VIII as hunting ground. Today it is a green and peaceful spot right in the heart of the capital with a pleasant lake and great views of Buckingham Palace. It makes a good spot to put your feet up for half an hour if you've been plodding around sites all day.
