Tottenham itself was a small village until the 19th century. It still has some grand houses such as Bruce Castle, the local history museum, but it most of its flavour and charm isn't immediately apparent today. It is however a highly cosmopolitan area and Haringey council reckon there are 193 languages spoken.
A great day out is at the Falconry Centre; you can watch the ancient art of falconry. Outdoor shows are held in a gorgeous medieval courtyard, which houses over 200 falcons, hawks, eagles, owls, and vultures. Shows are held daily from mid-May until mid-October.
