Denmark Hill is in the London Borough of Lambeth, the area is dominated by a large teaching hospital, which is part of London University’s Kings College. As everyone knows, medical students are not averse to a tipple, and there are plenty of bars around this neck of the woods to attest to that fact.
Camberwell is another spot where tourists rarely stray. Like Denmark Hill it is shaped by a large student population, and you will find more than enough bars and pubs on Church Street to satisfy most tastes. Redstar Bar has a 4 a.m. late license at the weekends and specialises in 80s nights.
Head north east and you will hit Kennington, home to one of the country’s great Test Cricket grounds and the offices where New Labour masterminded their transformation into a credible entity.
While Lord’s is the home of English cricket, the Oval has been the home of Surrey County Cricket since 1845 when the club entered into a lease with the Duchy of Cornwall, who own the land.
