Clapham Common is one of London's great open spaces and hosts skate/ BMX and music events each year with Clapham’s great pubs & restaurants nearby.

For something more serene, the Peace Pagoda in Battersea Park by the Thames may take the sting out of London’s concrete tail or cool off at the Tooting Lido.

Hip Brixton has colourful markets, great bars and clubs and tons of character. Genteel Wimbledon, home of the tennis competition, must be one of the few villages in the UK where you can pop to the local shops for a pint of milk and a Jil Sander outfit.
