Fulham

Fulham, being slap bang on the river and right next door to Chelsea is a very well to do place. Ten to twenty years ago it had something of a stuffy reputation, and was, like Chelsea, the stomping ground of a set of young toffs known most commonly as Sloane Rangers.

Now either these people have wised up or moved out, for though Fulham still has a slightly 'rah' feel about it, and it isn’t strictly necessary to own a Range Rover to navigate the local streets, it has got a lot more happening.

History buffs will enjoy Fulham Palace, which was the official home of the Bishop of London from 704 to 1973, though the building that stands today dates from the 16th century. Learn all about its history at the small museum attached to the palace, or simply enjoy a stroll around the attractive herb garden.
