Visitors to the city should go to the Derby Museum & Art Gallery, which features an impressive anthology of work by the celebrated 18th century Derby artist Joseph Wright, as well as an important collection of Derby porcelain.

Pickford’s House is a Grade I listed building and was the home of local architect Joseph Pickford. The house and gardens have been restored to the condition they were in at the turn of the 19th century.

Derby cathedral features a 178ft tower that dates from 1525. The Cathedral is a magnificent building containing some remarkable monuments. The most remarkable is the wooden effigy of Sub-dean Robert Johnson, dating from about 1530.
