There are plenty of historic buildings to see, such as the Jew’s House, which was built in the 1100s and is now a shop, or the 15th century black & white, half-timbered Cardinal’s Hat.

There is a good selection of museums in Lincoln; the Usher Gallery features collections of watches, porcelain, enamels, miniatures and silver. Among the fine art collections landscapes of Lincolnshire include work by J M W Turner, John Piper and L S Lowry.

Lincoln Castle is a massive structure, which was built in 1068 at the request of William the Conqueror. You can now take a guided tour of the grounds, which takes you along the medieval walls, around the spectacular grounds, and up into tall towers with views of the beautiful rolling countryside.
