Kidderminster was once the carpet capital of England and while the 19th century carpet mills are still very much in evidence around the town, the industry is not what it once was.
The town’s main claim to fame these days is as the southern point of the Severn Valley Steam Railway. You can travel by steam to Bridgnorth, where the Railway has its headquarters, daily in the summer and at weekends during the winter months.
Harvington Hall is a stunning manor house in Kidderminster, the house has rare wall paintings and the finest series of priests hiding places in the country. It has a gift shop, tearoom and picnic area so will make a lovely day out.
