Scarborough has lots to offer tourists, from plentiful amusement arcades and white-knuckle rides, to its rich history. It has not just developed as a fun-seekers resort over the last two centuries.
Scarborough's renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre is the base of Englands popular playright Alan Ayckbourne whose play's always premiere here. The theatre was founded by Stephen Joseph in 1955, he'd discovered theatre in America and was determind to bring it back to Britain.
These days amongst the typical seaside attractions you will find the Sea Life Centre on the North Bay, which covers the ecology of the North Sea, and boasts an underwater walkway and seal sanctuary. Rides and amusements are centred on the South Bay and the heated waters of Atlantis form one of Europes biggest water parks.
