Hexham is best known for its proximity to some of the very best remains of Hadrians Wall, which was built nearly two thousand years ago and marked the northern reaches of the Roman Empire. Before taking the dedicated bus service that links the town with the route of the Wall, why not visit Hexham Abbey near the town centre, where you will find St. Wilfrids 7th century crypt.
