Airedale is the most westerly of the Dales and like all of the others, takes its name from the river that cuts through it. The River Aire travels through a variety of terrain; from the rural Dales’ countryside near its source to the industrial stretches of the Leeds to Liverpool Canal.
The best way to take in its many aspects is by walking the Airedale Way, but much of the glorious countryside can be enjoyed in day trips or just by roaming around.
