Horton-in-Ribblesdale is a popular start point for ‘doing’ the Three Peaks (Whernside, Ingleborough and Penyghent), all of which reach approximately 700 metres above sea level.
Report at the Penyghent Café before undertaking the 23-mile walk and they will supply you with any necessary weather advice and officially book you out, which is a damn fine idea as the weather can change quickly in this remote and unforgiving countryside and if it does, you’ll be glad the rescue teams know you are out there.
