To the south of Huddersfield is Holmfirth, which will be instantly recognisable to fans of the BBC’s longest ever running series, Last of the Summer Wine, as its attractive, cobbled streets are where the vintage comedy is set. Hardcore fans will enjoy the exhibition at Compo’s House, which features all sorts of memorabilia connected with the series.
Each year Holmfirth is home to the Pennine Festival of music and dance, whilst maintaining the best of folk tradition, the festival promotes young and emerging talent from all over the UK and abroad.
The Postcard Museum contains postcards depicting the history of the local Bamforth family business; producers of silent movies and illustrators of saucy seaside postcards.
