Bewcastle is one of the last, unspoilt areas in Britain. The place has been lived in fought over and farmed for the past three thousand years. The open fells and long grass are perfect habitat for rare birds, Skylarks, curlews and lapwings are often seen throughout the area.
The village is a perfect place to explore, with it's array of footpaths, tracks and open areas. Or to use as a base to explore the nearby Lake District, Pennines, Cheviots, Scottish Lowlands and Northumberland coast
If your a lover of horse riding then pay a visit to the Bailey Mill Trekking Centre, here you can hire a pony for the day, have riding lessons, or do a stable-management course. It's a great way to take in the beautiful countryside.
