A few miles away from Northwich is Anderton, where you can see the world’s first ever boat lift that was built in 1875. The lift links the Trent & Mersey Canal with the River Weaver by carrying vessels through the 50-foot height differential of the two waterways.
Explore Anderton Nature Park, where you can follow the new wildflower trail to discover rare and unusual plants. Or gaze at the dragonflies putting on a display over the pond.
Anderton Outdoor and Education Activities is a fantastic place to spend the day whilst visiting Anderton. The centre has water sports including sailing, canoeing and kayaking, also various outdoor activities like abseiling, mountain biking and archery. They also provide team-building activities.
