Peel lies on the west coast of the Isle of Man. It is a glorious place with stretches of sandy beach and an imposing castle. The town is thought to have a particularly long history and remains have been found in St Patrick’s Isle from as far back as Mesolithic times.
Peel Castle was founded in the 7th or 8th century by monks and was transformed by the Vikings. This was later the residence for the King Of Mann until 1220.
One of the town’s primary attractions is the House of Mannannan heritage centre, which boasts exhibits ranging from a life sized Viking ship to steering a steamer. It will keep the kids happy for a good couple of hours and the ticket includes access to Peel Castle.
