Oldham

Oldham to the north of Industrial Lancashire is a Pennine mill town that at one time produced more cotton than any other centre in the region. The hard working folk of Oldham pushed for political reform and many were present at Manchester’s Peterloo Massacre in 1819.

Whilst visiting Oldham pay a visit to the Castleshaw reservoir and Roman Fort, it is set in the splendid Penine Hills. You can walk around the reservoir where you could be rewarded by sightings of geese, herons, dippers, cormorants and hawks amongst other birds.
