Rochdale sits high in the Pennines and is one of the area’s oldest recorded settlements and was home to one of the world’s first consumer cooperatives when the Rochdale Society of Equitable Pioneers was founded in 1844. The original shop in Toad Lane, where they sold their produce is now a museum celebrating their achievements.
The Romans had a fort near the town and their legacy is uncovered in the Rochdale Museum.
Rochdale theatre Gracie Fields, has live entertainment, local shows and events on frequently so for a night out be sure to check out whats happening there. The town centre has 2 large indoor shopping centres and an indoor market also some great restaurants and pubs.
