To the east of the Ribble Valley is its main town, Clitheroe, which is overlooked by a castle ruin, perched on a limestone knoll. The castle museum provides an interesting browse and it also houses the counties geological collections from all over the Northwest.
Have a 'Haunting Experience' and take a ghostly tour where you'll learn all about the infamous Pendle witches. In groups of five you will be taken all over Clitheroe on scenic routes with Medieval churches and Tudor mansions whilst being told scary tales.
The market town was chartered in 1283 and has flourished ever since recently recording very low unemployment figures and very high figures for disposable income.
Much of the surrounding countryside falls within the Bowland area of outstanding natural beauty and so offers some picturesque walks.
