Only the Banff Bridge keeps the twin towns of Banff and Macduff at arm’s length. Popular seaside spots, Macduff is the more industrious being a busy little fishing town, while Banff tends to be more visited by tourists.
Both are charming places to stop, but the 18th century Duff House in Banff definitely holds centre stage. The indulgent Baroque mansion now exhibits a selection of paintings from the National gallery of Scotland and is worth a wander just for the building alone.
The lovely spot of the Bridge of Alvah is a pleasant walk and well-known local beauty spot.
