Fraserburgh is a solid Scottish fishing town, port and resort in the far northeast of Aberdeenshire and in fact still relies almost entirely on fishing for its income. The town was originally called Farthlie but was renamed when Sir Alexander Fraser bought the harbour in the 16th century.
The town still holds it's popularity with it's traditional, old features as a beachside resort, with visitors coming from all over to check out the boats, lighthouse museum and the rocks in the sea.
The town’s castle, Kinnaird Head, has its own lighthouse, which was built by the grandfather of the author Robert Louis Stevenson in 1787. One ticket will admit you to the castle and lighthouse museum.
