Until the 1960’s Aviemore was an unassuming village in the foothills of the Cairngorm mountains.
Then someone decided to capitalise on the area’s natural beauty and accessibility (40 minutes from Inverness airport with good road links) and developed Scotland’s most popular ‘all year round’ resort.
These days there are hotels, restaurants, bars, cinemas and a host of sporting activities – most of which have a winter sports theme.
