Benbucula has little more than a transit airport on offer for visitors. It is sandwiched between North Uist (Protestant) and South Uist (Catholic), many visitors keep to the 5mile main road that cuts across the middle.
The super-flat island was used as a post-war Royal Artillery base, which resulted in the demise of the Gaelic charm that was once prevalent here, leaving a fairly dismal atmosphere.
This is not the place to go on your hoilday, however if you are somewhat of a military enthusiast, perhaps you will find some points of interst on the island.
