South Uist

Sandy beaches, clean water, stunning coastal walks and a ridge of mountains that make you gasp, South Uist is one of the most appealing locations in the southern islands.

Start off in the charming coastal settlement of Tobha Mor, where you can spend your days spotting the gorgeous restored thatched houses or absorbing (the fine weather) on the sandy beach.

Steer clear of the north-western corner of South Uist as this is the former Royal Artillery missile range and has very little to offer visitors.
