The third section of the Royal Mile is the High Street. This houses the magnificent High Kirk of St. Giles; often mistakenly called a cathedral this gothic/Georgian-restored building has a spectacular interior. Parliament Square contains the neo-classical Law Courts and Parliament House.
Further into the upper part of the High Street are the High Court of Judiciary, the City Chambers and the underground streets at Mary King's Close. Opposite, Tron Kirk can be found where revellers count down the final seconds of each year.
Lower High Street houses a Brass Rubbing Centre, the Museum of Childhood, Moubray House and John Knox's House. The Museum of Childhood was founded in 1955 and was the first museum in the world totally dedicated to childhood, it is crammed with objects telling of childhood past and present.
