West Lothian

West Lothian offers some of the best shopping and sports facilities in Scotland and is usually overlooked by tourists. It is full of historic monuments and tranquil country parks.

West Lothian is largely agricultural land with touches of industry. The fertile farmlands lie around the coast and in the south there is evidence of the oil-shale industry.

The Almond Valley Heritage Trust is an innovative museum exploring the history and environment of West Lothian. They have a working watermill, a nature reserve and a play area for the kids. They also have displays on the Shale Oil Industry.
