To the north of Sevenoaks, Gravesend marks the spot where the Thames estuary narrows to a river and boats take on a river pilot to navigate upstream beyond this extremely busy stretch of water.
If you are willing to travel a little further out of Gravesend there are wealth of places to visit such as The Crofton Roman Villa house that dates from AD140 to 400 and is set in 500 acres of beautiful farmland. Or if guns and amo is more your thing then take a day to visit Firepower, a museum charting the development of artillery from Roman times to the present-day may be right up your alley.
So if you are visiting relatives in Gravesend for a holiday or just passing though Gravesend there will be something to keep you entertained.
