The treasure of this charming Hampshire town is the 60 acres of Petersfield Heath. Dating back 5000 years, the vast open space of ancient barrows and wildlife also provides a golf course, cricket pitch, picnic areas and play areas that have been sympathetically absorbed into the natural landscape.
The picturesque pond with in the great heath is also home to a number of geese, ducks, swans and herons. Many Bronze Age relics have been found on the heath, giving it status as one of Hampshires most important archaeological sites. The poet Edward Thomas lived in the area and was inspired by its beauty.
This 900-year-old market town has beautiful architecture that dates back to the 11th Century and can be found everywhere. These days Petersfield offers a good range of Public Houses and Bars to suit all tastes, 14 pubs in all, from historic coach stops to trendy modern bars, one nightclub and coffee houses.
