Myddfai is an area of outstanding beauty with very rich tradition, history and culture, a small village in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is situated by Llandovery and the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons.
The surrounds are varied and dramatic, the rugged barrenness of the mountains contrasts with the fertile richness of the dales and there are many wooded areas with streams and rivers flowing through. Making Myddfai the perfect place for Ramblers and outdoor enthusiasts.
The area is the setting for many tales of myth and legend. One such myth is the story of the Lady of the Lake. The lake she came from is called Llyn y fan Fach in the Black Mountains. She appeared out of the lake and married a farmer. The couple had three children, who grew up to be the Physicians of Myddfai, famous throughout Wales.
