Portmeirion is one of the loveliest purpose built resorts in the world. The brainchild of architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, all of the buildings on the privately owned peninsula are let through the Portmeirion Hotel. The architecture is often described as Italianate, but there is a definite fantasy element there too. Nearby are Criccieth, and Porthmadog, which is often referred to as, the gateway to the Lleyn Peninsula and Snowdonia National Park.
