Lampeter lying inland on the north bank of the Teifi, is a university town packed with students and new-agers. The town is centred around Hartford Square; there are still some lovely old 18th century buildings along the High Street.
The college, which is now part of the University of Wales, was the first in the country. Founded in 1822 by the Bishop of St. David’s for the Anglican Church Ministry, it was intended for students who could not afford, or were not inclined, to go to England to complete their education.
Lampeter also has some health/ organic food shops and places selling local art and crafts. Keep an eye out for fliers and posters if you want to find out what's going on in the way of nightlife. Think 'student' and you will get an idea of the sort of entertainment and food that is on offer.
