Manorbier

Manorbier (pronounced manner-beer) is a pretty village that feels further away from it all than it actually is, just a few miles from busy Tenby. Loftily situated beside the dramatic outcrop, of Old Castle Head, there is a wonderful beach with great surf just 800m... below!

Perhaps Manorbier's most famous resident, Giraldus Cambrensis, said of the place that it was "the best place by far" in all of Wales. Born in 1146, he lived in the then new castle, which was built mainly as a residence than fortification.

The castle remains sit on a hill just outside the village and are in surprisingly good shape - the walls, chapel and state rooms are all in pretty good state of repair and there is a maze of passageways to wander.
