Saltash is an attractive 12th century fishing port, near the south coast of Cornwall, on the banks of the Tamar, the river that divides Cornwall from Devon.
Often referred to as the Historic Gateway, it was usually the place where most people entered the county. The Royal Albert Bridge, which crosses the river, is the work of the great 19c. Engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
Other places of historical interest in the town include the Guildhall and the National Trust’s Anthony House, which is said to be the finest Queen Anne house in the West Country.
