Looe has been popular with tourists since the 1800's but in 1879 it was the arrival of the railway that really brought its beaches to the attention of the wider population. Beaches to sample include: the beach front of East Looe and the notoriously clean Millendreath.
Most forms of boating are popular in the area and this is reflected in the local businesses and services.
An attraction worth visiting is the Old Guildhall Museum, with several permanent exhibitions including one of various maritime models. The town is also a draw for those wanting to experience the thrill of shark fishing.
